I promised a friend my thoughts on chicken stew. I don't really have a set recipe, more a loosely-arranged assortment of ideas.

Thoughts! )

Because it's Saturday, I baked bread today. That would be a routine that I'm developing. I'm quite pleased with that.

It was also better than last week. I'm still learning, though - there are lots of improvements to be made before I can honestly say, "I bake awesome bread." And I'm actually seeing it as "I can make improvements" rather than "I suck at baking bread" so that's a shift in attitude that I'm also pleased with.

I did a huge clear-out of my hard drive today and deleted or moved almost 75 gig of stuff. This is very pleasing.

I'm also downloading loads more TV (so: the whole "hard drive" space thing is temporary, hee). However, I still have loads of space on my hard drive.

I'm totally tempted to spend ages sorting through the material on "External HD The First". (These things, they need names, stat.) But what would be much more productive is sorting out the data on my old-and-cranky PC. Then, I would have actual access to the thing, which would be 100% amazing.

But I don't want to do it, because the PC is old and cranky and very very slow. Plus, I should probably be using this time to get prepped for America if I possibly can.

So much to do, so little time and spoons! Sigh.

But my brain seems considerably less mushy today. So I'm calling that a win for medication. And maybe I'll have more spoons tomorrow in a progression towards medicated normality.

I'm baking bread and doing laundry.

I have an email to send, a cover letter to write and a CV to tailor, and an interview to prepare for (it's for a voluntary post, but that's okay). All of that is deadlined for Monday, so it's today or tomorrow.

I've also got an ongoing knitting project - no deadline, but "watching TV and knitting" is my go-to relaxation activity. Noticing those depression warning signs means I'm trying to allow myself lots of relaxation time, in the hopes of preventing myself going totally to pieces before I can get more drugs on Tuesday.

And there is stuff to be done to stop the entropy in my room. Five minutes of picking-up and putting-things-where-they-live will totally make my bedroom back into a haven.

So I am working hard on the self-care thing, while also trying to keep an eye on the various balls I have in the air.

I also still want to do writing but I'm totally floundering. Thank you to everyone who gave me links for prompting communities - I have lots of stuff to play with now! But something is still missing, I just wish I knew what.

Grr, this whole thing of having to figure out what you need before you ask for it. It's frustrating!

I finished my employability course. Now for some job-hunting.

Sign-ups for MtYG opened today and I am all signed up! Need to write a Dear Santa letter at some point. But beyond that, it's just sitting around waiting for my assignment to show up. (If you are, were or have considered being a popslasher at any point, you should totally consider signing up. Just saying!)

Haven't caught up with this week's SPN yet.

I am definitely Getting Better. Social life, daily showering, attending an employability course, improving the situation in my room. It's all good stuff! And I start therapy tomorrow, which should be interesting at the very least. More social life and more connection in general would be awesome, though. Working on that part.

Made bread yesterday. It was pretty tasty, but the texture was a bit dense. According to my book, that means it needs more kneading. So we'll see about trying again next week.

Also missed my nap yesterday which meant I was extraordinarily cranky all evening and had a very early night. Note to self: naps are good.

Oh, and absolutely everything has changed on World of Warcraft. Quite stressful - I have to learn to play Warrior all over again! (And all my other toons, but I'm definitely not thinking about that yet. New Warrior is enough of a learning curve all by itself, thanks.) Looks like the new expansion's going to be quite fun, though.

I'm still obsessed with Hit Record and its shiny awesomeness, but I'm also completely stuck on what to do over there. (I haven't even got my head around the UI yet!) But I did record my voice for a collaboration encouraging people to vote in the US mid-term elections. I approve of efforts to get people out to the polling booth, even in countries where I don't live!

I think that's all the updates for today! I think I'm going to try to make a conscious effort to show up more here. Hello!
